Whether you observe Thanksgiving as a holiday or not, it’s likely that you’ll come into contact with Thanksgiving fare at some point over the course of Thanksgiving week.

Often, during the holiday season, many of us slack on our diets and nutrition plans in lieu of “enjoying” the holiday season. For many of us, enjoying the holiday season entails overeating, imbibing adult beverages, and eating candies and sugary snacks at all periods of the day.

That’s why it’s important to stay on top of your health and wellness plan, even during the holidays. When it comes down to it, November and December are crucial months out of the year and both should be better utilized toward achieving your annual health and wellness goals.

Eat Clean

Eat clean, whole foods and make sure that the dishes you bring along to potlucks and holiday parties are made with fresh, clean ingredients. Sweet potatoes make a great base for creative side dishes. Quinoa is good to add to salads and side dishes as well. Portobello mushrooms, leafy greens, and clean proteins are a must! Try to shop on the periphery of the grocery store, in the produce and healthy foods section.

Snack Less

During the holidays we give ourselves a free pass to snack our faces off. Instead, try to achieve targeted snacking, so you’re not overindulging. Bring a toothbrush and brush in between snacking if you want to stay cool with your dentist.
